Abstract submission for the EOS2008 congress

The Scientific Committee invites authors to submit abstracts for consideration and inclusion in the programme. All abstracts must be written in English and in the required format (see below). Abstracts can be submitted only via the congress website, abstracts sent by fax cannot be accepted.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is 24.00 hrs GMT on Saturday, December 1st, 2007. Abstracts received after this date will not be considered for evaluation.

Notifications about acceptance will be mailed out March 1, 2008. Together with the confirmation of acceptance, authors will be asked to confirm their attendance by completing the congress registration form and paying the appropriate fee.

Publication of abstracts
All accepted abstracts will be published in the congress programme. Scientific abstracts accepted by the European Orthodontic Society will be published in the European Journal of Orthodontics.

Oral presentations
While the names of five authors can be included in the abstract, only one author is allowed to give the presentation. The scheduled time for each presentation is 9 minutes; at the end of each lecture section all the previously presented lectures will be discussed. At this time the presence of the presenter is required.

Posters
Posters will be grouped according to the congress topics, and listed and numbered according to the abstract book. Furthermore, they will be distinguished according to their content into scientific posters and clinical posters. All posters must be displayed and removed on the dates that will be communicated after the acceptance of an abstract. Authors must be present in the poster area to discuss their poster on the time which also will be communicated.

Table clinics
Facilities for table clinics will be provided in the poster area. All table clinics must be displayed and removed on the dates that will be communicated after the acceptance of an abstract. Authors must be present at their table clinic to discuss their display on the time which will also be communicated.

All registered congress participants will be limited to two presentations as first/presenting author i.e. an oral presentation and a poster, two posters or one poster and a table clinic. Please note that if more than two abstracts are submitted then none of the abstracts will be considered.

Please note that all abstracts submitted to the EOS congress 2008 in Lisbon are subject to independent, anonymous review process by a panel of 9 reviewers. Only those abstracts with the highest total scores can be accepted as oral presentations. Abstracts with lower scores will be offered a scientific poster presentation, while those without a scientific base, such as patient reports or clinical tips, will be offered either a clinical poster or a table clinic presentation. If the number of submitted abstracts exceeds the space available, then it may be necessary to restrict the number of presentations offered to delegates.
